Kupwara, Oct 27: The Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khanday yesterday visited Kupwara to review the overall development scenario, essential commodities and progress achieved under District Plan, centrally sponsored schemes and flagship programmes during the current fiscal upto September 2013. While chairing the District and Sector Officers meeting in the meeting Hall of Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara yesterday. It was given out that an amount of Rs. 4090.55 lakhs have been released under District Plan 2013-14 of which Rs. 2157.55 lakhs have been utilized on the implementation of various developmental schemes in the district. The District Development Commissioner, Kupwara, Itrat Hussain Rafique highlighted the progress achieved under District Plan through PowerPoint presentation besides issues were also discussed thread barely. The Chief Secretary was informed that winter stocking at Machil, Karnah, Keran and other snow bound areas of the district would be completed upto November 10, 2013. Under MG NREGA 82119 Job Cards were issued to rural labours, 7.44 lakh mandays were provided to locals, out of 5071 works 2119 have been completed in the district, while under IAY 900 works were completed upto September 2013, 63 school buildings under SSA and another 39 buildings were completed under RMSA, 154 un-electrified villages have been taken up under RGGVY under 2nd phase. The Chief Secretary impressed upon the officers, engineers and executing agencies for time bound completion of ongoing projects and submit the DPR's for funding. He exhorted upon the concerned to provide electricity and drinking water to the people during winter months and asked the Mechanical department to made available the men and machinery for snow clearance as per the past practice in the district. The Chief Secretary also impressed upon the implementing agencies to consult the PRI's representatives while taking the works in hand. The District Development Commissioner informed the meeting that 5 irrigation tanks are under execution, while under BRGF 103 works costing Rs. 109.67 lakhs of which Rs. 22.50 lakhs have been spent so far. The Chief Secretary directed to Power Development Department for power schedule be discussed with district administration Kupwara so that people would not suffer during the winter months and also directed the department to restore the street lights of the town Kupwara. For this purpose, the district administration provided Rs. 3 lakhs to Power Development Department. An amount of Rs. 15 lakhs have been released under BADP for fuel to existing gen sets at Machil and Keran sectors. The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Shalindra Kumar who was accompanied by the Chief Secretary also reviewed the election works in a meeting. He was informed by the District Election Officer, Kupwara that population of the district has registered at 8.75 lakh while 3.61 lakh voters have been registered and 92 percent EPICs have been prepared. The Divisional Commissioner impressed upon the election authority to depute the Block Level Officers for door to door survey for registering. The 18 to 19 years under Form-C the addition, alteration and deletion works were also reviewed. Earlier, the Chief Secretary was presented guard of honour by the J&K Police personnel at DC Office Kupwara. The District and Sector Officers of Kupwara, Handwara and Karnah were present on the occasion. |
