Jammu, Nov 12: Council for Civil Liberties (CCL) chairman Inder Mohinder Tar Singh today demanded CBI enquiry of Akshay Verma who was allegedly murdered on September 23, 2012 and his body was found at railway track in Channi Himmat area. Addressing the media persons, Inder Mohinder Tar Singh said that the Council for Civil liberties has taken up the case and has decided to represent the same on behalf the parents of Akshay Verma. "We should whole heartedly support the family and take up the case to respective forums so that the family nears and dears get Justice" assured Tar Singh. As per Subhash Verma (Akshay's father) the J&K Police has not lodged an FIR in this regard and the same alleged that police has been intentionally trying to shield the killers and denying justice to the bereaved family for the reasons best known to them. In this connection several press conferences and protests were held during the past urging the Omar Abdullah and Director General Police to take appropriate steps to solve the mystery and provide them justice. A CBI probe was also demanded. "We therefore urge upon the Chief Minister and Director General Police to use their respective offices to intervene and hand over the case to CBI for fair and transparent trial so that the hapless parents and the bereaved near and dears get relief" said Tar Singh. |
