| Shortage of medical staff major concern | | Health facilities in district totally handicapped | |
Kathua Nov 12 : Failure of the government to improve the medicare facilities in District Hospital Kathua and other hospitals of the district, which are facing the shortage of total 252 out total sanctioned 429 posts of medical staff including doctors, paramedical staff and others are lying vacant in these hospitals of the district in general and shortage of NRHM staff including doctors and paramedical staff and others which is counted as almost 288 out total required number 348 at present in particular have been a major cause of concern for the people in the entire district. This huge medical staff lacking was brought before the NRHM's Centre Review Team by the Ajay Khajuria, Chief Medical Officer District Kathua during a meeting at Kathua here today. The Centre Review Team of NRHM arrived at Kathua under the supervision of Under Secretary NRHM Dr. R.K Thapar as per Common Review Mission in order to assess the progress report and present status of running NRHM scheme in district Kathua. During the interaction meeting between Centre Review Team and Medical Department's administration, the lack of NRHM staff, utilization of centrally sponsored funds and performance of the NRHM and even the huge shortage of the general medical staff in all the health units of district Kathua were discussed in detail. The Centre Review Team leader Dr. R.K Thapar said that the motive behind the visit to assess and know about the status of NRHM scheme in district Kathua and to assess the proper utilization of the funds which are being sponsored by the Union Government to state government. He also ensured to sort out all the odds of the NRHM scheme to keep its effective and result-oriented regulation in public health service. In the meeting CMO Kathua, Ajay Khajuria presented entire report card of NRHM and general status of health facilities in district Kathua. He presented the funds utilization report right from 2005-2006 up to 2013-14 (September) where as he showed that 2013-14( September) total fund available is 528.45 lacs and out of which 367 lacs have been utilized from 2013-2014 (September) till date. On the occasion he also presented the status of current employment and vacant posts as per NRHM in district Kathua where as he showed that total 348 posts including doctors, paramedical staff and others were sanctioned and out of which only 288 in position. Meanwhile on the occasion Youth Movement urged the Center Review Team of NRHM which is arrived from Delhi at District Kathua with a motive to assess the status of NRHM scheme in district Kathua here today to fill the vacant posts of medical staff and make the health service more effective than ever in Kathua district. The president of the Movement, Sanjeev Verma stated in a press statement that health facilities in across the district Kathua are totally handicapped and proved as a drop in well due to which the people of the district are facing multi threats. He said that the District Hospital Kathua and other hospitals of the district are confronted with the severe manpower shortage affecting their functioning to a great extent which has also been cause of brewing public resentment. The District Hospital Kathua which was constructed in 2010 at Jammu-Pathankot National Highway by spending crores of rupees to make it a Model Hospital alone has a shortage of huge numbers of medical staff. The across the district Kathua total 429 posts have been sanctioned and filled only 252 but 177 are lying vacant including doctors, paramedical staff and others. |
