| PDP lambasts Govt for failing to repair Bahu Fort wall | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 19: People Democratic Party has said that state govt has failed to take up the work of collapsed wall of historic Bahu Fort till date & demanded from the state government to take immediate steps for restoring the collapsed wall of the historic Bahu Fort, built by Raja Bahulochan about 3,000 years ago and was refurbished by the Dogra rulers in the 19th century. In this regard govt had failed to renovate maximum of the historical buildings which is not tolerable even the work for renovation of Mubarakh Mandi Fort is in very slow pace & only 15% of work is completed till date which may take 10 to 12 years to complete the renovation of fort, said Vikram Singh dist vice president PDP. He said Govt failed to take all measures necessary for the preservation of Bahu Fort as well as Mubarakh Mandi Fort to maintain that it is the most visited site in Jammu by the tourists. PDP leader also demanded from the minister to take immediate steps for protecting all the historical structures and buildings, especially which have been built by the Dogra rulers. They said that most of the historic structures of the Dogra rulers are facing the neglect of the state government. The members present in the meeting were critical of the approach adopted by the departments, assigned with the duty of preserving and protecting these historical monuments. Sonu Saini asked the minister to seriously take into consideration the allegations levelled by some associations regarding non-utilisation of the funds by the J&K Government, which have been allocated to it for the preservation of the historic buildings as well as govt failed to boost tourist spots of Jammu. |
