| Consumer Protection Organisation holds meeting | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 19: Consumer Protection Organisation (CPO) today held meeting under the chairmanship of its President Dr Danish at Rehari Jammu. According to press release, CPO president Dr Danish said that the procurement of OPC Cement by the stores Procurement department was discussed in detail besides other issues. After thread bare discussions the members noted with grave concern the NIT issued by SPD Vide no. DSP/eNIT/12 of 2013-14 dated 23-10-2013 for procurement of OPC Cement. He further said that the major Issue in said tender was 'Reputed Cement Manufacturers' instead of 'Major Cement Plants' as right from the inspection of SPD the tenders were floated and the Cement procured from Major Cement Plants. "It is a matter of great importance as cement is to be used for major projects in Jammu Province viz Flyovers, Bridges, Over head tanks and high rise buildings, and if sub standard cement is procured from mini plants it can cause damage to life and property of common masses" said Danish. The members took serious view of matter and urged the authorities concerned to investigate the matter in detail and fix the responsibility on the officers who were hell bent to procure the cement from Mini plants by changing the nomenclature from Major Cement plants to Reputed Cement Plants by clearly mentioning the capacity of 600 MT to participated in the tendering process. He further urge the state government to stop this forth, with till the matter was investigated in detail. |
