| ET staffer abused, paraded naked inside PP Chinore | | Police exposes dirty face of khaki | | Asif Iqbal Naik JAMMU, Mar 10: Now it is public! Do not go for an outing late in the night or return home in the mid of night. Not for the fear of terrorists but Jammu police will catch you, book you under whichever section they want, strip you naked, switch off your mobile, snatch your I-card and abuse you till they realize in the morning that you belong to the human race. This is what an Early Times employee Ankush Sharma had to face when he was returning home late in the night after having performed his assigned job in Early Times. 22 year old Ankush Sharma who had gone to drop another ET employee to home in Bantalab faced brutes in khaki when he was returning. He was stopped near Barnai morh on the Bantalab-Janipur road and told to talk to the Incharge Police Post Rattan Singh Rana. According to Ankush, he was abused and paraded naked by a police officer inside Police Post Chinore falling under the jurisdiction of police station Domana. As per the details, the ET staffer was on its way to office after dropping his colleague employee at Bantalab was intercepted by the police and was later taken to police post Chinore, where he was subjected to inhuman torture by Police personnel on duty at the said post with willful knowledge to incharge police post Sub Inspector Ratan Singh Rana. As per the victim ET Staffer, the police personnel after detaining him snatched his mobile phone and switched it off and did not allow him to call office or inform the family members. The police subjected the victim to mental torture despite him having duly informed the police personnel about his affiliation with media and showed them the official identity card to them; but the police personnel on duty in sheer abuse of power ignored his plea and locked him inside the lockup where criminals were lodged. After missing of the staffer, Early Times management fearing some worst incident about his staffer launched a manhunt to trace him and only found him after several hours inside Police Post Chinore lock up in the morning. Accordingly the matter was brought into the notice of SSP Jammu who later secured his release, but no action was taken against the erring police personnels involved behind illegal detention and abusing of the ET staffer. When approached, senior official posted with Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo assured action against the erring police personnels. Kichloo was not available for comment. Since the police preferred inaction, Ankush Sharma has approached National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) as well as State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) to seek action against guilty officials. |
