Jammu, Mar 10: Two days Tier - III training programme on "Preparation for village level aquifer management plan" under National Project on Aquifer Management plan target group Sarpanches, and Village level workers is being held here in Satwari from today March 10. The nodal agency Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Ministry of Water Resources, Govt, of India, North Western Himalayan Region, Jammu organized this two days training programme from today at Nanu Resort Village Phallian of Satwari with an objective to make people aware about ground water Scenario of the Block, problems faced by the Villagers and participatory monitoring of ground water levels by the Panchayats. J N Bhagat, Scientist & Nodal Officer of Central Ground Water Board who was special invitee on the inaugural occasion in his inaugural address apprised the gathering that department has proposal to set up Water information Centres. He appraised that about 100 Numbers of Sarpanches and Naib Sarpanches and Village Level Workers at Block Level attending the training programme about objective of the training programme. "The Panchyats of the Blocks would monitor the water level of the wells monthly at least 10 Nos of wells, he said and added, "for monitoring purposes the Central Ground Water Board is providing measuring tapes to the Sarpanches and the water level data collected by the Panchyats would be submitted to respective Blocks for supply of quality drinking water. |
