| CEO directs ZEO Anantnag to close down school located near LPG godown | | | Saahil Suhail
Anantnag, May 23 : Taking cognizance of the news report published in this Newspaper, education department officials here in this southern district have finally decided to close down the school running in the back yard of LPG godown, risking lives of children studying in the school.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Anantnag, Ghulam Rasool informed Early Times that they took the cognizance of the news report and have directed Zonal Education Officer Anantnag to close down the private school functioning at Uranhal in Anantnag located adjacent to LPG Godown. "I have myself visited the school (Al Fazal Convent School) and found the fact that school is adjacent to LPG godown at Uranhal Anantnag which could trigger any eventuality at any time." CEO said, adding, "I found that school is registered only up to 2009 according to the records they have submitted in CEO's office. He said that he had formerly directed Zonal Education Officer Anantnag to close down the school and initiate action against the authorities. "Till now school management has failed to provide the record and it seems school is running illegally," he added. Pertinent to mention that on 8th of May, Early Times published a news report about the Al-Fazal Convent School located at Uranhal Anantnag functioning in the back yard of LPG Godown of Showket Gas Agency, putting precious lives of innocent students at risk. School reportedly continues to function since 2005-the year when school management managed to get registration through alleged corrupt channels, however according to official sources the school authorities have failed to renew the registration since 2009. Child rights activists and civil society members have raised concern over the issue and demanded closer of the school or shift the school to a safer place. |
