| Ghost of 2010 summer unrest may haunt Omar yet again | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 23: The Union Home Ministry is likely to seek fresh report from the state Government on the reasons for the death of about 110 youth in the Valley during the summer of 2010. The Ministry has also asked other intelligence agencies to furnish their reports on how the state Government failed in handling the situation. "The Ministry has been preparing the report as the new PM may ask for the same," said a senior official of the Home Ministry. The Union Government may also take action on the fresh report and would not like to shield CM if he is found wanting in discharging his duties as has been done in the past. "This could spell trouble for the CM as outgoing Central Government didn't take any action as he was being shielded by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi," said the official. "Modi is likely to focus on the internal security and J&K would be the main area where he is likely to give more attention. In both the possibilities we can't take chances and appear empty handed when the call is made from the PMO, as there are very strong chances of it," said the official. Modi will not follow the soft line on the J&K and will fix responsibility if someone is found lacking in discharging duties. He can even give marching orders and would not like either politicians or bureaucrats to meddle into his approach on the Kashmir. Omar has been highly critical of the Modi in the past and has mocked at him about his knowledge on the State . "It's now Modi's turn to turn the tables and this could be serious for the Omar as he is on wrong side now," said the official . |
