| Farooq holds Omar solely responsible for drubbing | | Poll results widen differences between Abdullahs | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 23: Even as ruling National Conference has started damage control exercise in fire fighting mode, recent LS poll results apart from having left the party shattered have also impacted the ties within the Abdullah family. Already spun on a weak and fragile thread the Abdullahs have distanced further apart after the disastrous performance of party in the elections. Sources said in the meeting held two days, an angry Farooq Abdullah let his ire against Chief Minister son Omar Abdullah get known in public as he directly blamed him and his Government for poorest ever results in the Parliamentary elections. Sources said earlier also in closed door arguments Dr Farooq Abdullah is learnt to spewed venom against the son and held him directly responsible for his defeat in particular on Srinagar -Budgam seat. Farooq is said to have expressed his anger and blaming it all on Omar for wrong policies of the coalition Government in the state and all pervasive misgovernance which led to his defeat at the hands of Tariq Hamid Qarra of PDP. Sources said more than for the party as entire unit, Dr Farooq Abdullah is terribly perturbed over his defeat against the rival whose political stature NC believes is far less than Farooq Abdullah. Sources also said that bitter arguments continued between father-son duo as the former too pointed fingers at what he termed as political misadventures by way of making wrong statements in the state. Omar, sources said defended his position in contending that Farooq could not handle sensitivities of people on serious matters and issues which made masses angry against the Government. While both indulged in blame game over the party matters, Farooq Abdullah is said to have conveyed to Omar that he was not capable of handling the party well nor he took all together and along in vital matters which led to party ran and file getting weak. On the other hand Omar, sources said made the point that Farooq despite being president has not been able to give time and guidance to party at much needed time. Sources further said differences have not only been deepened between father and son but the anger has gone far even to Dr Mustafa Kamaal who, both think, has played a role in having brought NC to this disastrous brink. Sources said after heated arguments within the Abdullah clan, Dr Farooq is said to have developed some serious health problem and he was reported to have been admitted in the hospital for few hours. Sources further said that it was this altercation between the father son duo, Omar retorted publicly that he was solely responsible for the defeat of party. Omar Abdullah also began introspection swiftly which is why on Sunday he sought to know the reasons from the people of the state for the rejection of NC candidates including party president Farooq Abdullah. Omar stated it emphatically that he has started introspection process following the electoral defeat but he wanted to hear from people outside his party on how to make amends. |
