| HC directs DIG Crime to appear in person | | Murder case of Azad's Childhood friend | | | Jammu, May 23 : In the much publicized murder case of NC leader Ghulam Mohd Rather who happened to be childhood friend of . Ghulam Nabi Azad then Union Health Minister, Justice Janak Raj Kotwal observed that perusal of the file reveals that the directions issued by this court while disposing of OWP No. 376/2007 vide order dated 07.04.2008 have not been complied with. Neither the investigation seems to have been completed and nor the status report had been filed despite repeated adjournments. There is no representation on behalf of the State. Upon this Justice Janak Raj Kotwal directed DIG Crime and Railways, Jammu to appear in person to make a statement about the status of investigation in FIR No.22 of 2007 dated 05. 03. 2007 of Police Station Gandoh transferred to the Crime Branch, Jammu vide Order no. 2051 of 2007 issued by the Director General of Police, J&K, and Srinagar. In the petition it has been submitted that the deceased Ghulam Mohd Rather happened to be childhood friend and class fellow of then Chief Minister of J&K State Ghulam Nabi Azad. The petitioner and the relation of deceased approached then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad as by that time sequence of events was clearly indicating a conspiracy having been hatched by one Abdul Rashid brother-in-law of Mohd Sharief Naiz former power minister presently MLC, his nephew Fiaz Mohd and Mohd Younis along with other private respondents under the guidance of Mohd Sharief Niaz for doing away with the life of deceased Ghulam Mohd Rather. Then Chief Minister asked IGP Crime & Railways and instructed him on telephone to look into the matter seriously and not to spare any one whosoever influential he may be. Immediately thereafter it seems that Faqir Mohd appeared before IG Crime & Railway and disclosed the names of the persons involved in the heinous crime. In the petition it was further alleged the cause of the crime was the pedestrian bridge which was on Nallah connecting Goilbar village . An amount Rs 2.80 lacs was got sanctioned for construction of bridge through the agency of Panchayat Khal-Jugasar. It was alleged that Mohd Sharief Niaz former power minister and presently MLC earlier represented Bhaderwah constituency in which the area of Goilbar also falls and all the constructions local works in different Panchayats were in the meanwhile got executed on the instructions of Mohd Sharief Niaz through contractors who pledged their allegiance to him and his party. The deceased had all this political affiliation with National Conference and on this issue it has been alleged deceased was murdered and seeking investigation of the case through CBI or team of Crime Branch headed by an Officer not below the rank of DIG (JNF). |
