| VHP condemns JDA, Revenue Deptts for demolishing houses of people | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 23: Expressing serious concern over the demolition of houses of people in Gole Gujral area which were built on private land purchased by the house owners through proper registries in court of law, VHP today warned to launch an agitation against the JDA and Revenue Department's highhandedness.
``The VHP will be forced to launch an agitation in case the authorities failed to restore their land to owners and pay a due compensation to them within week's time'', VHP State president Leela Karan Sharma along with BD leader Rakesh Sharma told reporters here today. The scores of residents of the area whose houses have been encroached by JDA showed their registration papers of the land to media persons and alleged that they were punished to strike the balance and appease the higher-ups in Government by the two departments. Leela Karan said that following the directives of High Court to remove encroachments from the area, the authorities instead of removing those people who had encroached the Government land dismantled houses of scores of people who had constructed them on private land and have all revenue papers. Sharma said 100 kanals of land were allotted to one Pishori Lal in 1947 and he sold it later to various parties and after framing the proper revenue papers and registering the same in court of law the people who purchased the land constructed their houses there. But on the recent directives of Court to remove encroachments from the area they evacuated the original inhabitants instead of those who had encroached the land. Terming it a total injustice Mr Sharma said the people have become homeless due to the authorities action who rendered them shelterless. He said VHP will not tolerate this and in case the authorities will not stop the action VHP and BD will launch agitation in support of the land owners. He said this is a deliberate action of Government towards a particular section of people so that no body will raise his voice against the land grabbing and encroachments in Jammu in future. |
