Early Times Report

Samba, May 23 : The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded inquiry into the misappropriation of NABARD money meant for the construction of Samba-Mandi Circular Road, the Public Works Department (PWD).
Addressing a press conference, district president of PDP's SC/ST/OBC Wing, Sunny Sangral said a RTI was filed by his party men seeking details about the work done on Samba-Mandi Circular Road which reveals that the amount released under NABARD scheme has been misappropriated by the Public Works Department (R&B).
"NABARD released Rs 76.93 lakh for the construction of Samba-Mandi Circular Road but the department used only Rs 21.02 lakh besides, a sum of Rs 5.35 lakh spent as cost of material supplied by the department against the said work. And, rest of Rs 50 lakh have been diverted somewhere else which amounts to misappropriation," he said.
Further, he said that no work has been done on the ground as the Samba-Mandi Circular Road was still lying in limbo which has caused anguish amongst the people of Samba Mandis.
Sangral lambasted the department for meting step-motherly treatment to the people of Samba Mandis under a well-planned strategy with the active connivance of local MLA Yashpal Kundal. He squarely blamed Kundal for maintaining mum over the issues of Samba constituency. He also expressed anguish and surprise on the way in which the department diverted the NABARD money and also exceeded the limit meant for cost of material supplied for the work.
Sangral demanded high level enquiry to unravel the conspiracy behind this misappropriation and role of the local MLA in it. He threatened to launch full scale agitation in this regard if the issued is not settled. Among others present during the press conference were Sahil Gupta, Akshay Gupta, Goldie Sharma and Neeraj Dogra.
