Jammu, Oct 12: In utter disregard to law and order apparatus, transporters in Ramban district have been coercing the commuters in Ramban district by not only ocercharging at will, but also misbehaving with them while the law enforcing agencies have maintained a stoic silence to their arbitrariness. As per a complaint forwarded by a Chanderkote villager to the Naib Tehsildar, Chanderkote on behalf of the general public of the village, a copy of which is available with Early Times, transporters (Mini bus drivers and conductors) on the Chanderkote-Rajgarh route have fixed their fares at Rs. 60 no matter where you alight en route Chanderkote-Rajgarh. Villages on the route included Rajgarh, Hiller, Kumate, Ghori, Jhatgalli and Ashla. As per the complainant, Ranjeet Singh, villages Hiller, Seri and Power House are at a distance of 2.5-3.5 Km and Chanderkote at a distance of just 7 Kms but Tata Sumo and Tempo travelers have been charging a fixed amount of Rs. 60 for any destination en route. "Besides unfair charging, the public of the town is being subjected to abusive and colloquial language and the same has become a routine affair. One driver of the tempo bearing number JK02A G4470 namely Sajjad Ahmed misbehaved with an elderly passenger on the Chanderkote-Rajgarh route. "As I was travelling in the same vehicle, I objected the harassment of the senior citizen at the hands of Sajjad Ahmed and in return, I was also abused by the said driver and asked to pay the same amount for a distance of 2.5 Km", said Ranjeet Singh. Ranjeet further said that irked over this unruly behaviour of the driver, he had filed a complaint with the Naib Tehsildar who had assured necessary action against the driver and issuance of a fare-list of fair or the welfare of the general public of the town. |
