CEO seeks details from DCs on impact of floods | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, Oct 14: Ahead of finalizing polling dates for upcoming state assembly elections, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Jammu and Kashmir Umang Narula today sought details from all 22 District Election Officers (Deputy Commissioners) regarding the impact of recent floods on election preparedness. "As you are aware, the Election Commission of India will be visiting the state to assess the status of preparedness for the forthcoming Legislative Assembly Elections. As such it is requested that the information regarding impact of recent floods on election preparedness may be filled and sent to this office for being consolidated" read the letter No. PS/CEO/Elec/2014/365 dated 14-10-2014 written by Chief Electoral Officers to all District Election Officers. The CEO ask all the Deputy Commissioner to compile the details regarding damages due to recent floods in each Assembly Constituency separately in terms of number of effected villages, number of houses permanently damaged, number of houses partially damaged, total voters displaced from polling area in terms of displaced voters living in relief camps and displaced voters living in alternative accommodation. The CEO ask asked the Deputy Commissioners to provide him the details regarding damages to roads, bridges, culverts which will effect movement of polling parties to be dispatched for each Assembly Constituency, date of restoration of connectivity, date of individuals/families going to return to their homes/villages, total number of polling stations damaged in floods required to be shifted/re-located, status of Telecommunication, Internet connectivity in the District and any issue of concern for the District. The CEO directed all the officers to compile the reports at an earliest and treat the matter as election urgent. |
