National Postal week celebrated | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 14: National Postal Week is being celebrated in Jammu (Railway Mail Service) RMS from 9 October and which will culminate on 15th October 2014. Acccording to press release,on this occasion a number of activities have been organized. On 11th October 2014 Mail Day was celebrated. Importance of prompt processing and transmission of mails was highlighted to the employees of RMS by the Asstt.Supdt. Shri Rattan Lal . On this occasion, Chief Postmaster General Chandra Prakash was the chief guest. It was attended also by B.L.Pandita, Asstt.Director Postal Services(BD). Chief Postmaster General informed the staff that during the current year there is about 20% growth in traffic and revenue from mail services especially from Speed Post service. There is need to ensure that speed post and other mails are transmitted as fast as possible to ensure fast delivery to the public. Importance of new services of Express Parcel and Business Parcel was also highlighted by the Chief PMG. Express Parcel is transmitted by air. Business Parcel is meant for bulk customers but is given fast transmission by surface route. Recently there was disruption in mail movement to and from Srinagar and Kashmir valley because of heavy floods and damage to national highway. Now all mail lines have been restored and mail movement is taking place smoothly by air and by road in J&K. Chief PMG Chandra Prakash appreciated the hardwork and efforts of the staff of Jammu RMS in restoring normal movement of mails and in clearing all pending mails. The staff was also addressed by B.L.Pandita, Asstt.Director (Business Development) and Rattan Lal Asstt.Supdt RMS on this occasion |
