JAMMU, Oct 14: Hosts Jammu Frontier made a good start winning six medals on the second day of the five-day Inter-Frontier Games of the Border Security Force (BSF) being held at BSF Stadium, here today. All the six medals for Jammu Frontier came in four weight categories decided in twin events of judo and weightlifting today. The medal tally included three gold, two silver and a bronze. Earlier, in 62 kg category of weightlifting, Constable Surjeet Singh of Jammu bagged first place. Constable Vijay Kumar of Rajasthan Frontier secured second position while Prithi Pal, again of Jammu Jammu Frontier, finished third. Similarly, in 56 kg weight group, Constable Rizwan Ahmed of Jammu Frontier emerged winner while Constable Shinde Shivaji of Gujarat remained at second place. Third position went to Hira Singh of Tripura Frontier. Meanwhile, in Judo, South Bengal and Jammu Frontier shared two gold decided today. In below 100 kg, Constable Mangal Singh secured gold for Jammu. Second place again bagged by Jammu Frontier with Constable Ashok Kumar losing to Mangal in the final. Raman Kumar of Gujarat and Karambir of Rajasthan shared third spot. In below 90 kg category, Constable Roshan Singh of South Bengal clinched gold beating Raju Boroi of Jammu Frontier. Third place shared by Rajesh Kumar and Bajinder Singh of Punjab Frontier. However, the competition in other three events of Boxing, Wrestling and Gymnastics was at preliminary stages and results are expected from tomorrow onwards. In the meantime, the spell of rains disrupted the meet and delayed the start of weightlifting and wrestling competition, being held in the open ground, in the evening session. |
