Udhampur, Oct 14: Three more bodies including two of infants were recovered from Saddal-Panjar in Udhampur district of Jammu region of state were recovered today during ongoing search operation continued after three weeks since the village was buried under a mudslide during heavy rains, police sources said. According to police sources, massive landslides hit Saddal village of Panjar Panchayat in Pancheri (Udhampur) in which atleast 38 people went missing. "Army, police and teams from NDRF and SDRF launched a massive search operation in the area and recovered seven bodies initially on the very first day, sources said, adding, " the serach is on till date to trace the 'missing' persons.' "On 17 day of the search operation launched by police and locals to retrieve bodies of the missing persons in landslide hit Saddal village of Pancheri block, three more bodies were recovered today, sources said. The deceased have been identified as Rinku Devi (16) d/o Kannu Ram, Kavita Devi (6) d/o Kannu Ram and Ghasu Ram (38) s/o Jamitu Ram of Saddal.With the recovery of these three, 26 dead bodies have so far been recovered from the Saddal hamlet while 14 persons are still missing under the debris of massive landslide, which hit the village on September 7. Earlier four bodies were recovered from the said village on October 1, and the identity of dead have been ascertained as Jatti Devi (42) wife of Shunku Ram, Makhu Devi (24) w/o Mohan Lal, minor daughter and son (Roshani Devi and Kaku Ram) of Mohan Lal. |
