FMPHWs stage protest, demand pending dues

Jammu, Oct 14: The Female Multipurpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) today held a day-long demonstration in front of Directorate of Health Services, Jammu in support of their demands including release of pending salaries for several months. Protestors warned they will launch an indefinite strike from November 11, if government fails to concede to their demands by November 10.
The protesting FMPHWs alleged that they are at the age of starvation as the Government has not released their salary for the last more than 10-14 months.
"We are facing immense financial problems and are living the life of penury, as despite repeated requests made to the Director, Family Welfare, J&K, for releasing our salaries, nothing has been done except giving assurances," the protestors alleged.
President, JKMEF, Sushil Sudan, said that FMPHWs are facing acute hardship for want of their salary despite repeated requests to concerned authorities to take remedial steps to settle it for once for all as the FMPHWshave not been paid salary for 10-14 months. He further said even State Minister for Health and Medical Education had assured these workers that their salaries will be paid very soon, but nothing done was done in this regard.
Thereafter FMPHWs and leaders of JKMEF took procession from DHS Office Complex to Ml A Hostel to Indra Chowk and culminated at DHS Complex Jammu.
Meanwhile the technical staff of SHTO-Nagrota led by Surinder Paal Singh, President SHTO Tech Workers Union Nagrota Jammu also staged protest in support of the their demands. The protestors threatened if government fails to concede to their demands uptoNovember 10, then they will launch an indefinite strike from November 11..
Among those who addressed the today's protest included Mahima Devi, President
District Udhampur, Nancy Bhan, Urmil, Neelam Kumari, Kamla Devi. Rajesh Bala, Rekha
Rani, Sarso Devi, Nirmal Kour, Geeta Massih, Kuldeep Kour, Swaran Kour and others while leaders from JKMFF namely Vinod Kumar Sharma, Sham Prashar, Districrt President JKMEF District Udhampur, C L Koul. Harpai Singh, R P Singh, Jarnail Choudhary. Anil Kesar and others also addressed the protestors
