Indian forces to retaliate hard to any Pak mischief
10/14/2014 11:37:01 PM
On the basis of the latest report of the Union
Home Ministry one can easily say that if Paki
stani troops have resorted to repeated ceasefire violations it has done with a specific purpose and not out of playing tricks with the Indian forces on the border.
The Union Home Ministry report has indicated marked improvement in the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir during the last over nine months. It is but natural for Pakistan to be worried and upset over gradual improvement in the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir which is essentially the result of marked decline in the activities of militants. In fact militants have lost man power.Their cadre stands squeezed forcing them to start recruitment of local boys who are not involved in major incidents of violence in the state. The bigger worry for Pakistan is that improved security situation could make one believe that the Kashmir issue stands settled and hence India has no other issue with Pakistan that called for resolution. And drop in the activities of militants may weaken Kashmiri separatists who could be treated as paper tigers. And once that happened separatists' call for poll boycott may evoke no response from the voters. If polling percentage during the ensuing Assembly election remained normal it could be a slap on the face of Pakistan where the ruling and the opposition leaders have been telling the world that human rights in Jammu and Kashmir continue to be violated.
The security situation in Kashmir has shown distinct signs of improvement over the previous years while militancy related incidents have also registered a significant decline till end of August, reveals a report of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The incidents of militancy, according to the report , have declined from 488 in 2010 to 340 in 2011 to 220 in 2012 to 170 in 2013 and 114 till the end of August 2014.There has been more than 26 % less militancy related incidents in comparison to the previous year. The report says that casualties of Security Forces (SF) personnel have to some extent increased in comparison to previous years. The report adds that there has also been change in casualties of civilians and they too are on decline. If there has been marginal increase in the level of casualties among security forces it can hardly serve as music to the ears of Islamabad because agencies across the border want the level of violence to touch new height so that the ensuing Assembly election was wrecked or there was very poor polling registered.
Since the counter infiltration grid on the LoC and on the IB had been upgraded by the Indian troops and the BSF, Pakistani agencies failed to push groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir for escalating the level of violence.Hence the Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violations. And during the last three months the level of these ceasefire violations has gone up forcing the Indian troops and the BSF to retaliate with force and fury.
And even on Monday the Union Home Minister,Rajnath Singh, asked those that troops on the border to retaliate and hit hard Pakistani border outposts and pickets in case the enemy forces targeted Indian posts and civilians in the border villages. Ceasefire violations by the Pakistani troops have been a regular feature on the LoC and the IB during the last several years but this time frequency of these ceasefire violations has increased. But the Indian troops and the BSF are under clear instructions to retaliate hard so that Pakistani guns fell silent. But Pakistani troops do not implement orders received from the civilian government.
The Army and the ISI are treated a vital pillar in Pakistan that shadows the importance, powers and responsibility of the civilian Government.
