Budgam people suffer for effective transport | | | Shakeel A Khan Early Times Report
BUDGAM, Jan 5 : With the authorities in slumber, there seems to be respite for the people of Budgam villages as they continue to suffer for want of the effective transport system. Given the wintry days, the problems of the people have doubled as the commercial vehicles disappear from the roads much earlier. Be it the employees or the labours, students or businessmen, everybody suffers for want of the transport. People who leave their homes in the early hours of the day shiver in the cold while waiting for the lift. And the return journey is equally difficult because the transporters have taken people for ride. "I am a mason by profession and usually have to wait for a long time to get the lift. Morning time of wintry days is cruel enough but the poor arrangements made by governments leaves us with no choice but to suffer while waiting for the lift," Said Abdul Hameed from Daharmunah. There are many people like him, as he went on saying, who experience the difficult situation on the each passing day. He said that the people of the area many times approached the authorities for the redressal of their problems. But as per him all their efforts have been in vain. Students suffer the most as they reach their coaching centers late and they often fail to attend the first couple of classes. These students lose doubly in terms of time and money. The irony is that the authorities watch all this like the mute spectators. "My coaching classes start at around half past eight and I usually fail to reach in time because of the non-availability of the transport facilities. I often miss the important classes on account of no transport facilities. If the things don't improve then it is going to ruin the career of many students like me," said Azra from Soibugh while talking to Early Times. She went on saying that neither the authorities nor the managements of the coaching centers understand their problems. On one hand the authorities have proved to be indifferent and on the other hand the timing of the classes fixed by the managements of the coaching centers is in violation of the orders of the district administration. The people find the return journey even more difficult as the vehicular movement in the district disappears from the roads much before the darkness prevails. Most of these people have to walk the long distances to reach their homes showing the sad picture of the governance. People in general and the students in particular request the authorities to come to their rescue and ensure a sustained transport facility in the area so that they can realize their dreams. |
