Sandeep bhat Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 5 : The BJP candidate from Amirakadal Hina Bhat, who fought election from the area unsuccessfully, may be nominated a member of legislative assembly or legislative council. If sources are to be believed, Hina, the firebrand BJP leader from Kashmir, remained in news for her bold and outright statement on Article 370 and she may be the first choice of the party from Kashmir to be inducted in assembly or council as she is the voice of BJP from the valley. She is considered to be the best choice for her nomination to the assembly as she is a woman, a doctor and more importantly the bold voice of BJP. There are 87 elected MLAs in the assembly and two seats are kept reserved for ladies. BJP has secured 25 seats in assembly and if one woman from the party is nominated, the preferred choice will be from valley. As per information available with Early Times, so far no agreement is reached between BJP and PDP on government formation but soon the issue will be sorted out and two female reserved seats will go to BJP and PDP as PDP has got highest 28 seats and BJP is at No 2 with 25 seats. There are other women candidates also from BJP who would like to get nominated like Darakshan Andrabi, Neelam Gash from valley and Mamta Singh, Priya Sethi and Shilpi Verma from Jammu region whose names can be considered, according to sources. Many political pandits believe that BJP may give entry to more than two female aspirants either in assembly or in council and try to give the message that the party is not against 33% reservation for women. Finally who will be the choice, it all depends on party high command decision. When this correspondent tried to contact Hina, she didn't pick up the phone. |
