BJP's central leadership 'divided' over plan of action for Government formation with PDP | Amit Shah says formal dialogue on, Ram Madhav states informal communication going on | | Jehangir Rashid
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 5: The central leadership of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) seems to be divided over the plan of action adopted by the party with regard to the proposed alliance with People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for forming the next government in the state. Party's President, Amit Shah, today in the union capital said that a formal dialogue has already been started with PDP for forging an alliance. Shah said that the talks are going on and they would be taken to a 'meaningful' end. He said serious deliberations are going on between the two parties for forming the next government in the state. On the other hand, BJP General Secretary, Ram Madhav said that no formal or structured dialogue has been going on between BJP and PDP over the government formation. Madhav said that back channel communication has been going on between the two parties and no formal dialogue has been initiated so far. Conflicting statements from BJP's President and General Secretary suggest that there is communication gap within the party. It seems the party leaders are not aware about the developments going on vis-à-vis dialogue with PDP for forming next government in the state. Meanwhile, during the meeting of BJP's core group of Jammu & Kashmir with Shah it has come to the fore that state based party leaders want the government with PDP to be formed at the earliest. These leaders opine that this is the golden chance for the party to form the government in the state. "Jammu based leaders of BJP like Dr. Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore Sharma during the meeting said that BJP should form the government at the earliest in a Muslim majority state like Jammu & Kashmir. This was also supported by BJP's general secretary and these leaders vouched for some urgency in this regard," said sources while sharing inputs of meeting with Early Times. Sources said that central leadership of the BJP has taken a strong note of 'claims' made by some of the party legislators that they would be inducted as ministers in the new government. These legislators have introduced themselves as ministers in charge of various departments despite fact that nothing has been decided so far. "The central leaders are not happy with the legislators who are introducing themselves as ministers among the common masses. It is quite likely that some of the key men of the party might lose out and they would be deprived of a berth in the cabinet following this development. As such these people including some senior leaders of the party would face embarrassment among the masses more so their electorate," said sources. Sources said that some of the party candidates who lost the assembly elections from Kashmir valley are likely to be given berth in the new government. There are chances that party's candidate from Amira Kadal, Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat might get a nod for an inclusion in the state cabinet. Chances are also bright that Peoples Conference Chairman, Sajad Gani Lone would also be accommodated in the proposed PDP-BJP government. |
