| Altaf grills PDA, Municipal committee in review meeting | | Asks officials to desist from misusing funds | | Saahil Suhail

Pahalgam, Jan 5 : Newly elected MLA from this southern Assembly segment, Altaf Kaloo Monday grilled officials of Phalgam Development Authority and Municipal committee in a review meeting held at Town Hall Phalgam and asked them to desist from misusing the funds.
"What is your contribution in the development of Pahalgam apart from implementing the centrally sponsored schemes? I am being informed that you are drawing out salaries from the revenue you generate from here.
Which is the violation of Municipal Act and unacceptable to me." Kaloo told Municipal Committee Executive Officer Bashir Ahmad Dar during the meeting.
He asked the officer to provide a complete list of employees of the municipal committee within a weeks a time so that facts could be ascertained why the salaries of employees have not been paid since from months now.
"Outside this meeting halls employees your department are up in the arms against you because their salaries haven't been released yet," Kaloo said, adding poor work of the municipal committee in sanitation sector was visible with heaps of garbage lying on roadsides.
"Gulmarg is for better than Pahalagm now what you are doing instead of sanitizing this health resort you are dumping the garbage in river Lidder." He said. Municipal committee Officer Bashir Ahmad Dar, who stands accused of recruiting many through back door channels and for which VOK as registered formally a case against him, assured that he will work up to the expectations of the legislature.
Altaf also grilled Pahalgam Development officials for showing insensitivity towards the development and beautification of this world class tourist destination.
He directed officials of Toursim department and Phalgam Development Authority to boost winter tourism by organizing attractive festivals.
He also directed PHE, PDD, Food and Supplies department to ensure the smooth supply of essentials and uninterrupted power, drinking water\ supply.
Altaf also directed R&B and Mechanical department to ensure timely snow clearance and repair of roads. |
