Weavers apprised of handloom promotion schemes 1/6/2015 12:06:24 AM Early Times Report Vijaypur, Jan 5: Samba Deputy Commissioner Mubarak Singh and Director Handloom Development, T Angchok today inaugurated one day awareness programme-cum-workshop for weavers and educated about various schemes viz. Loans for looms, Scholarships to Girl Child of the Weavers , Health Insurance Scheme especially Weavers Credit Card Scheme offered by the Handloom Development Department for the promotion of the weaving craft. The workshop was organised by the department of handlooms. The DC asked the participants to come forward and take benefit of various schemes of the department especially Weavers Credit Card (WCC) Scheme as there is tremendous scope for the development and upliftment of Handloom sector in the District. It was informed that Weavers Credit Card Scheme was introduced by Government of India to revive, reform and restructure the handloom sector. He said that such programmes play an important role to aware the masses about the schemes of the government, and shall go long way in extending benefits of schemes to the artisans as there is huge demand of Jammu and Kashmir handlooms worldwide. He also directed the bank representatives present to give more importance to the loan cases of weavers. The director handlooms also spoke on the occasion and asked the weavers to come forward and take benefits from the said schemes especially Weavers Credit Card (WCC) Scheme. He said that main aim of organising this camp is to create greater awareness amongst the weaver community about various state and centrally sponsored welfare schemes. Among Others Deputy Director Handlooms Namrita Dogra, Assistant Director Handlooms Parvaiz Naik, DDM NABARD Surinder Singh, representatives of various Banks, Sarpanchs , Panchs, and large number of weavers attended the function.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
