BARAMULLA, Feb 7: Trade activity through the Salamabad-Chakoti check-post on the Line of Control in Uri town of Baramulla district in North Kashmir remained suspended for the second day Saturday. "The authorities here in Jammu and Kashmir have detained 22 trucks carrying goods from Pakistan, on its part the Trade and Travel Authority of Pakistan-Administered Kashmir(PaK) seized 50 trucks that had gone there with goods from India on Friday, said an official. However a senior customs official said that, "authorities at the Salamabad trade facilitation centre here in Baramulla district recovered 305 packets of narcotic substance concealed in boxes carrying oranges. Twenty-two trucks were detained for verification. The trucks had come from the Chakoti trade centre near Muzaffarabad in Pakistani Administered Kashmir and crossed into the Indian side, "We have recovered 305 packets weighing 12-14 kgs containing powder of a narcotic substance. These packets were concealed in 97 boxes containing oranges, official said. However Jammu and Kashmir police have recovered 305 pockets of Brown Sugar from a Pakistani Truck bearing registration No P-9627 and have made some arrests including Pakistani Truck driver Syed Innayat Hussain Shah S/O Syed Bagh Hussain Shah R/O Kumikote Tehsil and District Muzaffarabad Pakistan. While as police have arrested the other three persons including Zahoor Ahmad Malla alias Raju Chraloou a trader of Mohalla Mir Sahib (PR Traders) for whom the consignment was made. Abdul Majeed Shalla S/O Mohammad Subhan Shalla of Arampora and Mohammad Yousf Dar S/O Mohammad Subhan Dar R/O Drangabal of Baramulla town. Meanwhile Police has registered an Fir no 6/2015 US 8/21 NDPS Act, in Police Station Uri and investigation is going on, till the last reports came in.Hilal Ahmad Turki, General Secretary, Salamabad-Chakoti Trade Union, while talking to early times that, "We condemn this illegal activity and appeal the concerned officials to take a stern action against these black sheep's who were found involved in smuggling of brown sugar. Traders must be made accountable, there is no proper verification in registration process, rules and regulations should be made tough, we don't want black sheep's in our trade, Said Hilal.General Secretary said that, "I fail to understand that who permits those people having criminal backgrounds, who allows them to trade, there are various loop holes in the registration process, it is million dollar question for which they have to answer the common masses."If they want to kill our future generations, how can we allow these miscreants to trade. unfortunately it would be premature to say anything that who is supporting them, on whose behest they are doing such illegal business which has malign the image of traders, Turki alleged. More there are hundreds of vehicles stranded which carries almost 92 % perishable material, the material will be rotten in couple of days, let the governments of both the countries allow to carry out the trade from Chackandha Bagh. Hilal added. Even though I took up this issue with the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, and at the same time I appeal Honourable Governor of the State and Ministry of Home and Affairs(MHA), to intervene into the matter so that the traders will not suffer. |
