JAMMU, Feb 7:- Former Chief Minister and National Conference working President Omar Abdullah today questioned Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over delay in formation of government in the state.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of Rajya Sabha elections, Omar said that the voting trends on four Rajya Sabha seats clearly implicated that PDP and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) were in alliance in the state. He said that PDP has no reason to delay the formation of government adding that they should do it at the earliest since the party has spilled the beans over its alliance with BJP.
Omar claimed that NC joined hands with the secular forces in order to keep the 'communal' forces at bay in state of Jammu and Kashmir with the aim to secure the victory of Ghulam Nabi Azad and termed Azad a secular face.
"Why there is delay in formation of government on part of BJP-PDP---let them go ahead towards government formation so that the Governor rule imposed in the state comes to an end" said Omar. He termed the alliance between BJP and PDP as 'marriage of inconvenience' and said that this is an opportunity of politics.
Reacting to Omar's statement, PDP chief spokesperson Nayeem Akther said that the Governor rule in the state is better than the previous government head by Omar. He said that party will take its time in government formation, added that PDP is in no hurry as far as government formation in Jammu and Kashmir is concerned.
Akhtar said that any alliance involving PDP in the state will be in the interests of the people. He said that PDP's alliance with BJP will not harm the party in any way. "Omar has no moral right to question PDP's alliance with BJP--- it was under BJP's led NDA government that he started its political career as a minister in Vajpayee government" he said.
