BJP leader beats up GMCH doc, emergency services suspended | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 7: Emergency services in GMCH remained suspended for hours after a BJP leader and his supporters allegedly thrashed a doctor in the hospital premises here on Saturday. The incident took place a day after doctors called off their strike and resumed their duties. However, the doctors resumed their duties after the intervention of GMC Principal, Dr Ganshyam Dev. As per reports, BJP leader Vikram Randhawa along with some workers reached the hospital for the medical check up of his wife. In the hospital, he had an altercation with registrar, Dr Vinod Kadil following which he allegedly thrashed him. The verbal spat between the two started over the bad condition of the stretcher on which his wife was to be shifted to some other wards. After the incident, the doctors in the hospital suspended their works and announced strike. They, however, resumed work on the intervention of the hospital administration led by GMC Principal. Later, on the complaint of doctors, Bakshi Nagar police registered an FIR against the BJP leader under sections 353 and 504/34 of RPC.
