Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 18 : A condolence meeting was held by Jammu and Kashmir Ex-Services League (JKESL) to pay tributes to their Chief Patron and Former Governor of J&K, Lt Gen S K Sinha, at the JKESL office Ambphala. According to press release, President JKESL Rt Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, AVSM along with Director Rajya Sainik Board Brig Harcharan Singh and other members of JKESL observed two minutes silence and offered tributes in honour of the departed soul. Paying tributes to the departed soul, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Ex MLC appreciated and remembered the intellectual General Sinha, a veteran who supported the armed forces veterans and substantially helped in many projects to uphold the honour of the war veterans and their dignity, pride and history, Gen Sinha served the nation for over six decades. He actively participated in the 1947-48 military operations in J&K. The General was Governor of J&K from 2003 to 2008. He will be particularly remembered for giving Gen Zorawar Singh Auditorium to the Jammu University and a Statue of Gen Zorawar Singh at Bahu Plaza, Gandhi Nagar and for regularly paying Homage to Brig Rajinder Singh as Chief Guest regularly during his Governorship. He will also be remembered for calling Jammu the City of the Braves in addition to the City of Temples. Ex-Servicemen fraternity will miss him. A learned personality, Gen Sinha had deep knowledge of our State and its history. He was known for his simplicity and very pleasing and receptive attitude towards one and all. All members prayed for his soul to rest in peace and give courage to his family to bear the irreparable loss. |
