JU authorities delay appointment of regular Director DDE | | | Early Times Report jammu, Nov 18: Long awaited appointment of Director in the Distance Education Department as direct recruit is still hanging in balance with university authority applying clever tactics to block the process to stick to rotational Director in DDE. Sources said that two members of the screening committee constituted for the appointment of Director for Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) are ineligible and allegedly delaying the process. Sources in the University alleged that two ineligible members were deliberately included in the screening committee constituted by the Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu for the appointment of Director (DDE) as the university is more willing to have rotational Directorship in DDE from within the faculty members who can toe its line instead of direct appointment who can prove detrimental to the interests of varsity. They said that reign of manipulations and conspiracies is ruling the roast under the present dispensation headed by the local Professor himself who claims himself to be a very honest and genuine person free from all prejudices. "The decision of university regarding rotational directorship in Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) is a classical example of high-handedness for favouring blue eyed and the appointment of Prof. Dhian Singh Bhau as Director DDE is the latest precedent on record. Sources told that the Vice Chancellor had cleverly included the agenda of rotational directorship in Academic Council and University Syndicate which did not get approval. Instead, the members asked the University to go for interview to select candidate for the post of Director in DDE as the same was an administrative position and the advertisement stood released. But, the university administration instead of paying heed to the directions of the statutory bodies of the University went ahead for rotational directorship just to satisfy its personal motive. They disclosed that the matter of rotational directorship was taken up in Syndicate (109th meeting) under Agenda Item No: 109.37. It was alleged that the Vice Chancellor was unaware of the fact that the same matter was taken up in University Council meeting held in the year 2012 (73rd Council) which was toppled with one stroke of pen. This time again the matter was taken up in University Syndicate which again met the same fate. Sources also alleged that the Financial Advisor categorically asked the University administration to fill up the post as per University norms so as to settle the matter once for all landing the incumbent varsity dispensation in a state of great embarrassment and humiliation being a raw hand in the field of administration and administering justice. Sources further told that the advertisement for the appointment of Director for Directorate of Distance Education was issued last year and the university knowing the fact tactfully posted ineligible teacher as Director of the Distance Education just for delaying the appointment of the new Director. In an attempt to delay the process for the appointment of the Director for Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), the University authority deliberately constituted 3- member committee for screening of Director for Directorate of Distance Education comprising of two ineligible members out of which one member is sitting Director DDE himself, sources alleged, adding that delay of process can easily be visualised . Slamming the university administration for causing inordinate delay despite issuance of advertisement since long, sources pointed out that there is no mechanism in place for fixing accountability visible anywhere in the administrative system of varsity. The screening committee has been constituted which is still sleeping over its function which manifests that the University Authority is unwilling to go in for the appointment of a permanent Director for Directorate of Distance Education ostensibly to carry on its agenda of obliging blue-eyed, sources alleged. |
