Udhampur, Nov 18: The patwaris make a fortune through illegal mutations, forgery and tampering the revenue records. A 55- year- old- man stood depressed in the court as the patwari had sought Rs one lakh for a mutation. Vrijesh Singh a resident of Kallar Himiti wanted to transfer his ancestral land but the patwari has demanded a hefty sum. He said nothing can stop them from looting the people. "The enquiries ordered against them will yield no results," he said. The patwaris have friendly relations with property dealers and the land grabbers. "They get equal share from the property they get through illegal mutations," said Suresh Jeet Singh an social worker. He said the people are forced to pay the amount that they demand. "Nobody is there to check this menace", he said. Another aggrieved , Kaka Ram of Sui Chakker apprised the Divisional Commissioner of the matter. The Div Com, according to him, said several enquires are pending against patwaries in the department and SVO has also registered cases. |
