Jammu, Nov 18: A senior professor at Jammu University is these days busy spreading lies about security of the campus. According to sources, the administration was forced to install CCTV cameras at around 200 vital points after the professor in question claimed that the varsity has received threating letters. "The professor approached the Vice-Chancellor, saying that there is a threat to the campus, after which the process of installation of CCTV cameras was started," sources said. They said the professor even mocked the university administration by terming them 'buffoons' for not working as per the need of the hour. Things did not end here. The professor also spread rumours that Library, Directorate of Distance Education and Vice-Chancellor Office, besides administration building was in the target. "The professor claimed that he has received a letter (which he did not show to anyone) that the prime locations are being targeted to cause huge damage to the university," said sources. "Without verifying the claims of the professor, the administration floated tenders and started the process of installing CCTV cameras at over 200 vital points, including library, cafeteria, DDE and parking places," said sources. A senior faculty member in the university said the professor is deliberately spreading rumours to create panic among other faculty members. "This professor had earlier also raked several controversies. He is notorious for spreading rumours. But due to his influence and close association with the VC, he manages to trick administration every time," said the faculty member. |
