How can a cat guard the milk: Accused' officer heading department delaying investigation | | | K Koushal Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 18: After the death of the former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, his vision to root out corruption from the system seems to have been abandoned by his party leaders and his allies. The lackadaisical attitude of the people at the helm towards corruption and the corrupt can be gauged from the fact that a top bureaucrat, who is allegedly one of the accused in Roshni scam in Samba district holds the post of Additional Deputy Commissioner Samba and till date he has not been transferred thus making the mockery of the investigations. "The official who was one of the members of the Approval Committee under Roshni Scheme and was also Tehsildar Samba is presently Additional DC Samba and is allegedly hampering the investigation by not providing the record to the State Vigilance Organization", sources told Early Times. Pertinently, Special Judge Anti Corruption Sanjeev Gupta had recently ordered Deputy Commissioner, Samba to cooperate fully with the State Vigilance Organization (SVO) and furnish the relevant revenue record for the investigation. Sources claimed that the status report filed by the SVO revealed that investigation is moving at snail's pace due to non-cooperation of revenue officials as the alleged accused officer is posted as ADC Samba. However, the SVO has written many letters to DC Samba regarding providing names of the members of the Approval Committee under Roshni Scheme so as to fix the liabilities of delinquent officers but the reply is still awaited. |
