Early Times Report

Srinagar, Nov 18: The students, job aspirants belonging to open merit category have demanded repeal or amendment in rules of reservation system here saying, they become the worst victims of this reservation quota system.
They said the real benefit of reservation system is not being taken by the deserving people who get education in far off places with no facilities available, and instead it is being taken by the kiths and kin's of bureaucrats and the influential belonging to far off places who study in top schools here.
"The kiths and kin's of ministers, bureaucrats and the influential people whose roots are from far off places are misusing the reservations which are meant for the deprived and the downtrodden. These children and relatives of such people study in top schools here and avail maximum facilities to receive better education and at the end are at par with open merit candidates," Inayat Ullah Khan a student told 'Early Times'.
He said when competitive exams are conducted for various courses or jobs, these children of bureaucrats rather than fighting neck to neck with open merit candidates to get seat in various entrance examinations, they present reservation certificate thus depriving the real beneficiaries of the facility.
"The reservation rules need to be amended; the families of ministers, bureaucrats and influential people cannot deprive the deserving of their right of reservation. The reservation system was meant to provide this facility to the people who do not have access to better education and other facilities related to it and live in far off places," Jaleel Ahmad, a senior Journalist said.
He said this time the reservation is being availed by kin's of ministers, bureaucrats and influential people who do not require it given the fact they study in top schools here and are at par with unreserved candidates.
Ahmad said on the basis of certificate the parents are non- serious about the competence of their kids, and scare to let their kids to compete with at par candidates.
He added saying, "time has come that government should consider amending rules of reservation so that the people who require it can benefit from it".
