NPSU alleges BJP-PDP responsiblefor defunct of SIC 11/18/2016 10:23:10 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 18: National panther Student Union (NPSU) alleged that the BJP-PDP Government responsible for defunct of State Information Commission (SIC). Addressing media persons, State President Thakur Virender Singh lambasted state government for their irresponsible behaviour due to which today state informs commission is defunct completely. He also said that from last 6 month the social organizations and political parties have aware the government about the sincere of SIC and demanded to fill up the vacant post at SIC so that the state information commission could be preserved for smooth working and RTI Act can be protected. He further said that this is really matter of concern that on one hand the BJP& PDP alliance have promised a lot to fight against corruption and on other BJP & PDP government have turned Blind eye on very sensitive issue like vacant post at State Information Commission this has really exposed the false promises of BJP& PDP government and this has clearly shown that BJP PDP government have nothing to do with issues like corruption which were really exposed by RTI Act. He stated that RTI is the only tool in hands of Public which can expose big scam but this is very shocking that now RTI survives nowhere in Jammu and Kashmir as State Information Commission is defunct totally. He questioned the Dy. CM of J&K to clear his stand on this issue, let the people know why they are silent on this issue and why no imitative was taken to preserve SIC. Yesterday was the last working day of holding chair at SIC by Nazir Ahmed as per the provisions of J&K Right to Information Act and with this the States Information Commission has completely become defunct only due to the indifferent attitude of the State Government, which instead of initiating step in advance for filing up of the vacant posts in this vital Commission, preferred to shut eyes. The State Government was very well aware of the fact that following the completion of term of Nazir Ahmed nobody would be there to ensure implementation of landmark legislation but unfortunately it allowed the situation to reach at a stage where Commission has virtually become non-operational, sources regretted.
