Early Times Report Anantnag, Nov 18: A wanted trouble creator was today arrested by police while he was trying to lead a rally in Hakhoora Dialgam village of Anantnag. He was identified as Tehreek Hurriyat's district president, Anantnag, Mir Hafeezullah. Reports said that after offering prayers at Jamia Masjid, Hakhoora, Mir attempted to lead a march when police in civvies arrived at the scene. "Two policemen in civvies lifted their pherans (long gowns worn by Kashmiris during winters) and resorted to aerial firing," eyewitness said. They said that most of the people who were part of the march mistook them as militants and ran away for safety. Mir was then arrested and whisked away to the police station. He carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, police said. Confirming his arrest, police said Mir was the main trouble creator in Anantnag and had been evading arrest since long. He was said to have organized and addressed several rallies after terrorist Burhan's killing by forces in July last. |
