Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 18: After remaining suspended for 134 day in violence hit Kashmir valley, mobile internet services for postpaid connections have been restored. However, the curb on internet services on prepaid services remained in force in Kashmir, where the ongoing unrest has left 90 civilians dead and over 10,000 others injured in security force action since July 8. Official sources said the internet services were restored tonight following improvement in the situation in the valley. The mobile internet service was suspended immediately after top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kokernag in Anantnag district on July 8 evening. The death of Burhan, triggered massive protests in the valley, where normal life remained affected for the 133 days as business establishment and shops remained closed and traffic was off the roads. However, the number of protests has witnessed drastic decline in the last over one month. The postpaid mobile services, barring BSNL, were also suspended for about two months in the last over four months. However, due to criticism from politicians, professional and students, the services were restored. |
