Early Times Report Kathua, Nov 18: Kathua Truck Operators' union badly affected after demonetization as 90 % trucks are being stranded due to unavailability of sufficient small currency. Stranded trucks cannot move without sufficient transport charges, diesel, remuneration to drivers, cleaners and other charges. Gurnam Singh, a transporter, welcomed demonetization but expressed resentment about unavailability of sufficient currency in market to make the transport system smooth. He informed that 90% trucks did not move wheels since announcement that affects not only business but livelihood of drivers/cleaners and all transport concerned people. Bhupinder singh, adviser Truck Union Kathua, said," Transport business is about to sunken, vehicles has been stranded on the way/ toll plazas that affect livelihood and EMIs being paid to banks." Singh said," Union government took right decision but small currency must be circulated before banned 500/1000 rupees notes," and added that note exchange limit has been made on the basis of requirement of common man not about businessmen especially transporters. The Truck Union Kathua demanded enhancement in exchange/ withdraw limit so that the business could be run smoothly. The union welcomed hunter on black money but common man affected the most in daily routine due to demonetization. |
