Will Geelani leaving Hurriyat mark end of anti- India politics in Kashmir?
6/30/2020 12:07:32 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, June 29: The 91- year-old Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Geelani bidding adieu to his conglomerate has sent out a loud and clear message that separatism in Kashmir is dying with each passing day. On Monday, the die- hard Pro Pakistani supporter who spearheaded several anti- India demonstrations in Kashmir surprised everyone with his audio message in which he declared that he is quitting Hurriyat Conference which he himself had founded and headed for about two decades. The reasons Geelani has given for leaving the amalgam was the lack of discipline within its ranks and silence maintained post abrogation of Article 370. Such a major development is a very tectonic shift in Kashmir’s separatist landscape and could usher in a new era of moderate politics and an end of stern and stubbornness within the separatist ranks. Meanwhile, if there is one thing that has come out as a crux of the entire development it is an end of the separatism in Kashmir. The Hurriyat Conference losing its grip and control over the Valley was evident from the fact that last year even ahe...
