TOP STORY OF THE DAY
BJP lost holds on its stronghold
AIIMS row and its fallout
8/3/2015 12:13:40 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 2: Gone are the days when the writ of the BJP ran in areas between Pt Premnath Dogra Bhawan and Raghunath Bazar in Jammu city. Kachi Chowni, Purani Mandi, Jain Bazar, Patel Bazar, City Chowk, Kanak Mandi and Ragunath Bazar and Ragunath Pura were the areas which were considered the BJP's strongholds and these were also the areas where the handful of BJP activists used to operate. But things have now changed and changed completely. These areas are no longer the strongholds of the BJP. In fact, the BJP has lost its hold over these areas. During the past more than two months, people in their thousands held massive demonstrations in these areas against the BJP and these were also the areas where people on their own not once but thrice observed a complete shutdown to register their protest against the BJP. It happened on April 24. It happened on May 27 and it has been happening since July 31. In between, people of these areas in their thousands joined the candle light protest marches on June 5 and July 23. Besides, they in their thousands joined the AIIM...

Agitation for AIIMS: Credibility of BJP reaches to lowest ebb
8/3/2015 12:13:27 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 2: The ongoing agitation for setting up of a full-fledged AIIMS is scripting new chapter in the history of Jammu city because first time since 1947 the most pious building, known as "Panditji Je De Kothi" at Kachi Chowni was stoned by residents of the old city. Everyone in the city is asking "What are the reasons why people were forced to throw stone on a building which was more or less considered as temple by the people of old city?". The only reply is "betrayal" by the selfless and self-centred incumbent leadership of BJP which can go to any extent for the lust of power. Not only popularity of the BJP has gone down rapidly on AIIMS issue but the party's ...

AIIMS agitation exposes BJP leaders
8/3/2015 12:13:20 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 2: The ongoing agitation for AIIMS in Jammu region has exposed the BJP leaders and ministers as all their tall claims about them nurturing Jammu as their constituency have fallen flat. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "People of Jammu getting united for a common cause has proved that BJP leaders didn't win the elections due to their efforts and credibility. They won because people were fed up of Congress and its anti-Jammu policies." He said most BJP leaders who won the 2014 assembly polls were "non-entities" but they rode on the Modi wave to turn the tide around and won 25 out of 37 seats in the Jammu region. "Soon after the BJP won people o...

Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 2: While the flags of Pakistan and dreaded terror outfit IS have been raised in Kashmir from time to time, police are yet to make any arrest. Pak agents on several occasions have waved the IS and Pak flags and then disappeared but police, despite having a large intelligence network across the state, have so far failed to identify the accused and book them under relevant sections of law. It shows that police lack the will to lay hands on these enemy agents. On April 16 this year, chief minister Mufti Mohammad Syed too had a...

However, Gill's close association with NC patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah may play the spoilsport. Sources close to PDP said that senior members in PDP were aware of Gill's closeness with the Farooq.
