TOP STORY OF THE DAY
'Arrogant BJP leader compelled Nadda to make ambiguous announcement'
AIIMS ROW
8/1/2015 12:17:15 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, July 31: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders who called on the Union Health Minister JP Nadda in New Delhi on Friday ostensibly compelled Nadda to make an "ambiguous announcement" on setting up of AIIMS in Jammu and Kashmir so that agitation for AIIMS in Jammu region fizzles out, sources told Early Times on Friday. They said a delegation of BJP leaders that met Nadda in Delhi yesterday informed him that agitation for AIIMS in Jammu region has become people's movement and if steps are not taken to address this issue it could spell doom for the party in the region. Nadda, according to the sources, told the BJP delegation that it was not possible for him to make a statement on sanctioning of separate AIIMS for Jammu region as Parliament session is on. He assured the BJP leaders that announcement in this regard would be made after the Parliament session concludes but some BJP leaders were adamant that statement should be made on Thursday so that Coordination Committee, spearheading the agitation to seek full-fledged AIIMS for Jammu region, gets diss...

BJP divided: Ministers blame each other
8/1/2015 12:17:03 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, July 31: Unprecedented response to Jammu Bandh on the call of AIIMS Coordination Committee despite last ditch effort of playing bluff by BJP leaders to mislead Jammu people by managing a confusing tweet of Union Health Minister, has triggered a blame game among the top leaders of saffron brigade and its ministers. Instead of making an introspection of their own deeds and misdeeds, the BJP ministers in their private discussion are learnt to be hurling allegations against each other for mishandling the situation on the issue of AIIMS. While others are accusing the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh for his surrender on the issue and then failure to ensu...

BJP 'goons' attack journalists to defame AIIMS CC
8/1/2015 12:16:55 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, July 31: BJP's desperation in Jammu is growing with each day. It has tried almost all tricks to derail the AIIMS movement in Jammu. It gave a written undertaking of getting the proper orders for establishment of AIIMS in Jammu from the centre in a hope that if the movement is deferred it may not be able to take off again. It circulated stories on Whatsup defaming important members of AIIMS CC as stooges of Congress. After failing to impact the movement it circulated stories that the three day's Bandh in Jammu has been called off because the Union Health Minister has agreed to the demand of setting up AIIMS in Jammu. While trying all these maneuvers, BJP,as per s...

Lal Singh orchestrates statement on AIIMS for Jammu and Kashmir
8/1/2015 12:16:48 AM
ET Report Jammu, July 31: The state health minister Lal Singh today remained noncommittal on issuing a statement on two separate AIIMS for Jammu and Kashmir and scripted his words in line with those of Union Health Minister while emphatically saying that both regions will get equal share of health care through AIIMS. When asked as to whether for Jammu and Kashmir a special provision for AIIMS would be mooted by amending the constitutional guidelines of the AIIMS institution breaking it into two halves for Jammu and Kashmir, Lal Singh had no specific answer for that. Remaining evasive on the queries as to whether the state would be sanctioned two separate AIIMS to Jammu and Kashmir , the ...

Dubious role of NC leadership
8/1/2015 12:16:40 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, July 31: National Conference, which is claiming to be champion of Jammu' s cause on the issue of AIIMS, has forget its dubious role when Central University was sanctioned for Jammu region some years back. It was during the regime of Omar Abdullah that Central University was sanctioned for Kashmir Valley only. Neither Omar Abdullah nor his own party National Conference had asked the Centre to announce two Universities for the State. When announcement regarding Central University for Kashmir Valley was made, entire NC leadership had hailed that decision of the Centre. It was only after peoples' outcry in Jammu region and tough stand taken by the Congress party,...

BJP and betrayal one and the same thing
An unpardonable act
8/1/2015 12:16:30 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, July 31: The unscrupulous BJP has yet again proved that it and betrayal means one and the same thing and to believe it would be to commit a sin against the nation and the vast nationalist camp in the militant and separatist-infested Jammu & Kashmir. It has proved beyond any shadow of doubt that it is the most undependable party in the country and that it has no commitment to the nation and to its own constituency and it is nothing but a party of "thugs, cheaters, liars, bluffers and extremely selfish elements". But more than that, it has yet again proved that it can go to any extent to appease those indulging in, preaching and giving an effect to the dangerous s...

An open Letter to Shri Amit Shah Ji, BJP national president
8/1/2015 12:16:14 AM
Respected Shri Amit Shah ji I am once again choosing to write to you this open letter in the hope that your goodself may realize the gravity of the situation in which the BJP J&K unit finds itself at this time and take measures in the interests of the party and the nation. You must have read my earlier letter Dated April, 16, 2015. I had earnestly appealed to you to reconsider the decision of joining the PDP as an alliance partner in the new government in the sensitive state of Jammu and Kashmir. Technically I still am the advisor of the President of the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, but honestly speaking I have stopped advising him well before I wrote to you on April 16, 2015. So this let...

Why different yardsticks for Politicians in J&K?
8/1/2015 12:15:59 AM
Abodh Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, July 31: Politicians of the lesser state of Jammu and Kashmir are a pampered lot, but eventhough they say all are equal in the eyes of the law, there seem to be different benchmarks for the political class. For months now, Kewal Krishan Sharma, the PRO of the former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has been leveling serious criminal allegations against him, which include charges as grave as rape, corruption, kidnapping and murder, but it is strange that no cognizance has been taken of these serious charges and no attempt has been made by any government agency to find out the truth behind those allegations. Appearing in a petition filed against the ...
