TOP STORY OF THE DAY
BJP killing itself in Jammu
What an irony!
8/2/2015 12:16:59 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 1: Will the BJP leadership take cognizance of such slogans as "Kavinder Gupta, Amar Rahe", "Nirmal Singh, Amar Rahe", "Sat Sharma, Amar Rahe, Bali Bhagat, Amar Rahe", Rajesh Gupta, Amar Rahe" and "down with the BJP and take some concrete steps to recover its lost political space? What an irony! The BJP that fought for the Jammu cause for decades is today working whole time to defeat it. To defeat it for what? To further pamper Kashmir, controversial Kashmiri leadership and help fanatics and separatists in the Valley to accomplish what they failed to accomplish after 1947. The single-point agenda of the Kashmiri leadership after 1947 was to get not just Kashmir separated from what it called Hindu and communal India, but the entire state of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh on the ground that the state was Muslim-majority, which could not be integrated with India socially, culturally, constitutionally, politically and administratively. The other component of the agenda of Kashmiri leadership was to establish its complete hegemony and domination over the pol...

What is sauce for Panthers Party goose is "not" sauce for BJP gander
8/2/2015 12:16:49 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 1: The state unit of the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir is helpless. It is hapless because of its inability to secure from the Government of India, which has a BJP Government, various facilities and concessions for the region of Jammu from where it had won 25 out of 37 seats in the previous Assembly election. In fact it was peoples' support to the BJP that it has been able, for the first time, to share power with a Kashmir centric party, the PDP. Whatever may be the merits and demerits of the alliance between the BJP and the PDP, the BJP has not been able to fulfill its various commitments it had made to the people of the region of Jammu. It had failed to fulfill ...

'AIIMS okay for Kashmir, in Jammu it will spread diseases'
8/2/2015 12:16:40 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 1: Facing flak over its failure to come up to the expectations of Jammuites, over proposed establishment of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders have been leaving no stone unturned to justify their party's position, which conspicuously are nothing more than tactics to befool masses. In an amusing statement, made to justify his party's stand, a BJP leader said that establishment of AIIMS in Jammu would only bring in more disease. "The AIIMS is okay for Kashmir. If it comes up in Jammu, it will only spread diseases", the BJP leader, who had come to attend a cremation at Jogi gate said. The BJP leader, who ha...

`Kashmiris have thrown shoes on all Abdullahs'
8/2/2015 12:16:06 AM
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 1: The Abdullahs have received bouquets and brickbats as well. None among them including Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah had a cakewalk in the state. The people conveyed their displeasure whenever the leaders deviated from the stand. At times they pelted stones to express their anger and when stones were not available, the people threw shoes. This way the Kashmiris have the distinction of inventing this `novel' mode of protest. However, Kashmir history fails to mak...

Ruhullah plays politics over deadbody
8/2/2015 12:15:34 AM
ET Report JAMMU, Aug 1: After losing power National Conference is toeing the line of separatists and seems to be hell bent upon vitiating the peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir. The newly appointed chief spokesman of the NC Aga Syed Ruhullah on Friday issued a hard hitting statement demanding that mortal remains of the Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, who was hanged at Tihar Jail in New Delhi, be handed over to his family. A day after Yakub Memon was hanged, Ruhullah issued a statement saying, "Guru's family being deprived of his body was against the tenets of natural justice and undermined the constitutional principles of the country. Return of Afzal Guru's mortal remains
Is NC suffering from amnesia?
8/2/2015 12:15:28 AM
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 1: Leadership of Kashmir's oldest political party National Conference, it seems, is suffering from amnesia, if one goes by its recent demand of return of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru's mortal remains. Guru was secretly hanged in New Delhi's Tihar Jail on February 9, 2013 when the Omar Abdullah-led NC-Congress coalition was ruling the state and the Abdullahs' party was a partner in the UPA in Centre too. But now the party, which suffered humiliating defeat in the last Assembly elections, wants return of Guru's mortal remains to his family in the Valley. This political stunt, if it was designed as one, has however failed to strike a chord...

8/1/2015 11:45:10 PM
Bijay Charak Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 1: Defeating the very purpose of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA), the J&K government has been forcing students of primary schools of far flung areas to cover several kilometers to reach school. Sources in the Education Department told Early Times that when the SSA was launched, its basic purpose was to give primary education to children living in far-flung areas at their door steps. Under the scheme, several new schools were opened by the government, and the enrollment in schools increased manifolds.
