JAMMU, July 15: A great team effort from New Challenger today guided the side to a fine six wickets win against KC Sports Club (KCSC) in the semifinals of the Chevrolet Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament underway at KC Public School ground, here. Now, in the final, scheduled for July 20 at the same venue, New Challenger shall take on the star-studded side of Kishen Chand Cricket Club (KCCC). Earlier, in the second semifinal, KCSC won the toss and decided to bat first made 125 runs for eight wickets. Ashwani Bhat played fine innings of 25-ball 35 runs hitting three boundaries and one six while Amrit Pal contributed 15-ball 27 runs. Sahil Lotra and Vijay Dogra were other main scorers, who added 18 and 13 runs respectively. From New Challenger, first class cricketer, Ram Dayal took two wickets for 20 runs in four overs. Deepak Manhas also clinched two wickets giving away 14 runs in two overs he bowled while Monu took two. Rohit Sharma secured one wicket. In reply, New Challenger attained the goal making 129 runs in 19.1 overs losing four wickets. Manjit Singh Chib remained the highest scorer with 35 (off 31 balls, 6x4, 1x6) while Ram Dayal contributed 32-ball 32 runs to the total. Gokul Baru made 20-ball 27, followed by Parveen Singh, who scored 19 runs. Abhishek Jamwal was most successful bowler from KCSC with three for 19 in three overs while Sahil Bhalwal took one. For his all-round performance, Ram Dayal was declared man of the match. Today's semifinal officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Rajinder Singh as umpires while Sohail Yusuf was scorer. |
