Jammu, July 15: As per information available with Early Times, total number of driving institutes which have been given licenses by Regional Transport Authority Jammu is 91 but only 35 are operational. Institute of Driving and Maintenance, Janipur under license number 01/MVD/DTS/1992 is running its institute successfully and has valid registration up to year 01/01/2018. Another driving institute Jamkash Vehicleades Pvt Ltd, Trikuta Nagar license number 46/MVD/DTS/06 is also running successfully having validity up to 04/08/2016. Many other institutes across Jammu region including Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri, Akhnoor, Baderwah running with proper documentation but more than half driving institutes have expired validity or have been cancelled by the authority.
The license of about 20 institutes has been cancelled. These include RK driving institute, Udhampur, National Driving Institute of Driving, Narwal, Royal Institute of Driving and Maintenance, Shastri Nagar, Bhawani Driving Institute, Rajouri, PK driving Institute, Kathua, Dreamland Driving School, New Plot, Aay Kay Driving Institute, Akhnoor, Krishna Driving Institute, Kathua and many others due to the reasons best known to the concerned agencies.
Twenty-eight licenses are invalid and cannot run their institutes without proper permission. Those institutes whose licenses stand invalid by the concerned department include Indian driving institute, Transport Nagar, Sewa Driving Institute, Udhampur, Shiva Motor Driving School, Narwal, Udhampur Driving Institute, Guru Nanak Institute, Udheywala, Surya Driving School, Samba, Jai Gurudev Driving Institute, RS Pura, Mata Vaishno Devi Institute, Katra and many others. There are many other institutes which are neither cancelled or stands invalid but have not applied for their renewal so far which include JK SRTC Driving School, Rail Head Complex, under licence number 13/MVD/DTS/99 has validity upto 02/04/2014 but so far as per information available they have not applied for renewal from the concerned agency. Others include city driving institute, Doda, SS driving institute Udhampur, Sohang driving institute, Channi and others. The main purpose for opening these institutes were to train people in driving skills before obtaining driving license fro the concerned authority but it seems most of the driving institutes in Jammu region seems to be not giving the much needed service to the people. When this correspondent tried to contact the concerning agency for their version but didn't get the answer despite several attempts. |
