Petrol bomb hurled on PDP leader in Kulgam, cop sustains injuries

ANANTNAG, July 15: Personal Security Officer (PSO) of People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader and nominated candidate for DamhalHanjipora Assembly segment, Abdul MajeedPadder, sustained minor injuries after few miscreants hurled patrol bomb and stones on the vehicle in which they were travelling in Qimoh area of Kulgam district.
Reports said that in the evening suspected miscreants hurled petrol bomb on the vehicle (Gypsy JK01K- 3381) in main market of Qimoh resulting minor damage to the vehicle and injuries to one police cop accompanying PDP leader.
Injured cop was identified as head constable MohdYaqoob and was hospitalized in Qimoh Government hospital from where he was later discharged, according to hospital authorities.
After the incident, panic gripped the entire area and security forces launched massive hunt to nab the suspected miscreants who fled after hurling the petrol bomb.
PDP leader Abdul Majeed Padder who has been nominated as the candidate for the Damhal Hanjipora Pora Assembly segment was returning from Srinagar where he had gone to participate in the party's protest rally against the brutal killings in Gaza Strip.
A police official while confirming told Early Times that they have taken the cognizance of the incident.
"Incident took place in Qimoh market in the evening when few miscreants hurled stones and a bottle filled with petrol which led to slight damages to the vehicle while as the PDP leader and his PSO are safe excluding one who sustained minor injuries," said police official.
