ICELA for strict ban on green felling | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 15: Indian Council for Enviro-Legal Action (ICELA) J&K Chapter has demanded complete ban on green felling to protect forests cover and preserve environment and ecology. Expressing his serious concern over green felling in Kalakote constituency and other areas of the state, the ICELA Convener and former legislator Ashok Sharma suggested that stringent action should be taken against all those found involved in felling of green trees and launching massive plantation drive. Addressing activists of Rahul Gandhi Youth Brigade at Tatapani, he stressed for curbing misuse of MGNREGA and ensuring its implementation in tune with the aims and objectives of the scheme. He also demanded bringing Tatapani (Hot Water Spring) on the tourism map as this spring having immense medicinal properties, is visited by a large number of people every year, he said, would open-up the area for fast economic development and generating avenues of livelihood to the locals. |
