Shri Shakti Express to boost pilgrim traffic | | | Early Times Report
KATRA, July 15: Early Tuesday morning when the wheels of the Shri Shakti Express entered the portals of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station majority of pilgrims chanted slogans of 'Jai Mata Di' while touching the base at Platform Number 1. The first train flagged from New Delhi on Monday evening arrived here in time with large number of pilgrims traveling for the first time. The journey was made possible after the launch of 25.6 Katra rail link by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 4. The direct train link between Katra and other important destinations is going to boost pilgrim traffic in the coming days and months. To facilitate smooth pilgrimage Shri Mata Vaishno devi Shrine board authorities have also made elaborate arrangements to help pilgrims perform darshan without facing any hardship. Adequate passenger centric facilities have been set up at the railway station for the benefit of pilgrims. Ajay Kumar, leading a group of five pilgrims from New Delhi was among those who arrived here Tuesday morning. "We are very happy the train services between New Delhi and Katra have been made a reality. It will help us save time, energy and money to a large extent." Several senior citizens who earlier shied away from traveling by road to Katra owing to peak traffic and poor road conditions welcomed the start of the direct trains services. A group of pilgrims from Kota in Rajasthan claimed they were planning pilgrimage for a long time but when they heard Prime Minister on July 4 they changed their plan and decided to wait for the start of the direct rail services. The head of the family Giriraj Rathore said, "I am working in a private bank in Kota and the direct train service would go a long way in saving time and money for working professionals like me. The pilgrims were happy to find state of the art facilities at the Katra railway station." |
