Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 15: Alleging gross nepotism and favouritism being pursued by the administration of Jammu University, the Students Scholar Joint Action Committee (SSJAC) while casting aspersions on the recruitment process of University of Jammu (JU) said that it is apprehended that the interviews to be conducted soon would be biased. Addressing a press conference here today, Chairman SSJAC Varinder Singh Chib said there will be conducting of interviews for various posts in teaching faculty and gazetted category on its main campus in next few days in which kith and kin of the officers in the University administration and politically-linked people are also appearing. Chib said that going by the previous records, we have strong apprehensions that the family members and relatives of these officers, who are very close to the Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, and politically-associated student leaders and contractor employees, are to be accommodated on the campus by ignoring genuine, competent and deserving candidates. SSJAC requests the Union HRD ministry and the Governor N N Vohra, who is also the Chancellor of the University, to intervene immediately to save the future of deserving, competent and genuine candidates so that their faith doesn't shake. SSJAC demand all the interviews for teaching, gazetted and other categories should be conducted under the surveillance of CCTVs and it should be properly video-graphed to ensure transparency, fairness and to get the fear of biasness from the mind of the deserving candidates. If possible, these video-graph interviews should be made public, as and when, sought by anyone for his or her satisfaction. Chib further said we have even prepared a list of candidates, who are most probably be given the undue benefit in interviews at the cost of deserving people because they are either relatives of senior officers in Jammu University or have strong political affiliations.
