Udhampur, Aug 17 : Seven pilgrims were injured following landslide near Adh Kuwari enroute to Vaishno devi shrine near Katra on Saturday night. Heavy rush of pilgrims is being witnessed since Friday and new records of yatra surpassing fifty thousand every day during the last three consecutive days. According to reports the landslides, which triggered on the new route from Adh Kuwari to the holy shrine following heavy downpour, also led to the suspension of pilgrimage for three hours, later the yatra was resumed and it had been going on smoothly. Injured have been hospitalized at PHC Katra and later referred to Government medical college Jammu. They have been identified as Ram Dass , Shubam Rathore , fot paul residents of Madhya Pardesh , Vinay Kumar, Anita Kumari from Bihar , Satinder from utter Pardesh and Vishwa nath from west Bengal .Meanwhile Holy shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji has been witnessing massive rush of pilgrims during past couple of days with yatra surpassing 50,000 on Friday , Saturday and sunday, setting a new record. " Unprecedented rush is being witnessed here on account of four consecutive holidays that is Independence day on Friday , weekend as well as Janamashtami holiday on Monday. All our hotels and guest houses are fully packed as yatra has surpassed fifty thousand benchmark which is a new record", said Rakesh Wazir Vice President Katra hotel and restaurant association. " We had to face inconveniences as three to four kilometers long queues were there at Bhawan and it took us five to six hours to pay obeisance", said Rakesh Kumar resident of Laxmi Nagar , Delhi. |
