Private Schools ignore Govt order, Issue date sheet for annual examinations | | | Muhammad Mukaram SRINAGAR, Oct 15: Ignoring the state government's order postponing examinations till March, many influential private schools have decided to conduct the exams in the current October-November session. Some private schools have already either conducted exams or issued date-sheet to students, which has made it clear that they are hell-bent to conduct the exams according to the normal session. During the last month's floods, the School Education of Kashmir faced a huge loss to school infrastructure and books after which state government took a decision that all the exams would be conducted in March-April session next year. However, some private schools across the Valley have ignored the decision and have decided to go according to their own way. "Date sheet has been issued by our school authority and our exams will start by October 18," said a student studying in Delhi Modern Public School (DMPS) Pampore wishing not to be named. Principal DMPS, Nelofar Mantoo while talking to Early Times over phone said that "We will go with the government's decision and will conduct the annual examinations in March-April session". When asked that date-sheet has already been issued by the school, she said "We will cancel the date-sheet issued by us and a notice will be issued in a couple of days." Another student studying in Muslim Education Institute (MEI), Pampore told Early Times that their exams have already been conducted. "Our exams were taken as per the normal session and we don't know why the government decision was not followed by the school authorities," a student from MEI said. However, Principal MEI, Tariq Ahmad denies the allegations saying no annual examinations were conducted by the school but it were the internal exams which they had conducted. "We have not conducted any annual examination. It is for the students preparation that we conducted the internal exams," Ahmad said adding that "Government's decision will be followed in letter and spirit." However, insiders in the school told Early Times that it were the annual exams which were recently held in MEI but now fearing action against the school, authorities have decided to conduct another exam in March according to Government's order. Meanwhile talking to Early Times, Director School Education Kashmir, Mir Tariq Ali said that strict action will be taken against those who violate the government's order. "We will initiate strict action against those schools which would conduct examinations before March 2015," Mir Tariq Ali told Early Times. He further said "Special teams in every district would be constituted in order to monitor that no school will go against the government's order." Earlier, it was decided during a cabinet meeting that the annual examinations of the under-graduate classes of Kashmir division and winter zone of Jammu division shall be held in March 2015 instead of October-November 2014. It also decided that the same examination schedule shall apply in the Kashmir division and the winter zone of the Jammu division in the School Education Department. |
